Anderson Spring
Anderson Spring is located in Suwannee County. It’s located on the eastern bank of the Suwannee River, just south of highway I-10.
Directions: From the intersection of US 90 and River Road in Ellaville, drive south on River Road approximately 2.2 miles (3.5 km) to the intersection with the first road on the west side (right) past the I-10 overpass. Turn west (right) and travel approximately 0.3 miles (0.5 km) to a dirt parking area. The spring is located north (right) of the parking area.
Description – Anderson Spring is a round or oval-shaped spring pool.
The pool is approximately 6 ft long and 3 ft wide. The depth of the spring pool is approximately 3 ft.
The spring vent of Anderson Spring discharges into the pool, and then the water into the Suwannee River.
The spring vent is located about 10 ft down, at the bottom of the river. Limestone rock is exposed and visible at the vent.
Clear and yellow-green water flows from the spring vent.
There is sometimes algae within the spring vent and the surrounding pool but there is no other aquatic vegetation present.
The state-owned area surrounding the spring consists of limestone outcrops covered with vegetation, ferns and moss. High ground rises to about 25 ft above the spring.
